About WAY
History
WAY was registered as a charity in 2002 after local parents and the Parish Council recognised the need to provide facilities and services for young people in Waterbeach and the surrounding villages.
Our Values
We believe that education does not take place in academic environments alone. We place high value on allowing young people the time and space to enjoy leisure activities and seek guidance from adult role models.
We are committed to developing all aspects of a young person’s character – physical, mental, emotional, spiritual and intellectual – so that they can grow into well-rounded, balanced individuals who can contribute fully to society whatever their innate talents.
We recognise the value of all individuals, and will care for all people equally and respect their differences.
WAY is rooted in our local community and we work to help young people become an integral part of that community. We recognise the importance of maintaining and building close links with other community groups within the villages and beyond.
We acknowledge the importance of good role models for young people and seek to lead by example. We aim to create an environment that encourages a positive peer support network among the young people with which we work.
We strive for excellence in our work, seeking to improve by listening, reflecting and learning. We aspire to serve as a good model for other organisations working with young people.
We are responsible and accountable for our actions and will act with integrity. We are open to correction and change.
We believe that people are inherently good, but recognise that a person’s experiences, particularly those faced in childhood and adolescence, can lead to challenging behaviour. We are committed to helping those children and families who are struggling with difficulties, whatever their circumstances, and walking with them in their troubles.
We recognise that change does not always come about quickly, and this is reflected in our long-term commitment to our community and the individuals we work with.
